Oh yeah! New high score, DEAD. Ya I am still here. Hi I am D. lee and I love technology. In fact I love it so much I think that kids should be allowed to use it 24/7.I mean technology is the way of the future and so are kids so why not put the two together? At this point most adults in the room are thinking that kids should have a limit of the time we are spending with technology. But I say NO WAY! My parents used to spend hours and hours playing games like pong which was very slow and basically destroying brain cells. But the games today, the games that I play require strategy and massive amounts of brain power and lighting fast reflects. For example try to play God of War without knowing that kratos requires the blade of Olympus to kill Zeus without being cooked.
Also, take game systems like the Wii, parents are always telling us to go outside. But the outdoors can be a dangerous place. I mean we can get hit by cars, catch the flu, and even meet up with people we don’t know. The Wii is a fantastic alternative because you can do anything that you can do outdoors, indoors in the safety of your own home.
Another magic piece of technology that in the way of the future and that many of you already know is the cell phone. What an amazing device. I mean not too long ago my mom used to have a giant phone that was connected to the wall and had a 20 foot long wire attached to it so they couldn’t go outside, and even outside the room if she wanted to talk. I mean what is that? Now we can go anywhere and text and have access to our friends. Our parents can’t even complain about this one because cell phones let them keep track of us no matter where we are. Out at the park, at our friend’s house and even at school. Cell phones keep us connected. Most cell phones also let us play our own music. They are small devices that can hold over 10,000 songs and can keep people happily singing and dancing all day and night long. Gone are the days of the giant boom boxes and record players. Long live technology! But now, the biggest reason kids should have access to technology 24/7- The computer. Instead of having to buy stamps and hand write long letters we can go on face book or MSN and meet up with our friends online. We only need a few words and lots of acronyms like LOL or BRB to get our message across. We can have conversations with 10 people at the same time and discuss important issues like who likes who and sometimes we even talk about homework and talking about homework the internet is an amazing tool that helps us to have access to some amazing information and videos. If you don’t know how to use the internet you are stuck in the past and have to go to the library and research something which takes up a lot time which a lot of us don’t have. But now a word of caution. Although the internet can be an awesome tool we need to be careful when surfing the web. You should always ask permission before going on to an unfamiliar websites and make sure you always know who you’re talking to. This doesn’t mean kids shouldn’t have access to technology, it just means we need to be taught how to use it properly and safely.
So in conclusion, video games, cell phones, and the internet are amazing tools for technology and kids everywhere should have access to these things, if not 24/7 then at least whenever we need it. I say out with the old and in with the new! Thank you.
