My Vacation in Aruba

Good morning/afternoon Judges, Teachers and fellow students. My name is D`Andre. I’m doing a speech today about my Vacation in ARUBA! Out of all the vacations I have been on, Aruba was one of my favourite.

The main reason I went to the island, was because my auntie Melissa was getting married to her fiancé Dan.

There were about 30 of our family members that came on the trip.

People came from Canada, the United States and even England. It was like a family reunion in paradise.

My brother and I were the ring bearers in the wedding. Those are the people that carry the rings down the isle to the bride and groom. My mom was a bride’s maid and my sister Raea was a flower girl. My aunt and my new uncle were married right on the beach at sunset. It was cool.

The best part of the wedding was the reception, also known as the after party! By the end of the night my brother and I were helping the DJ. I love all that technical stuff! Being the little devil I am, I took off with his microphone and hid behind the bar. I was making all sorts weird noises in it, it was funny, but it wasn’t long before the DJ found me and wanted his equipment back. He didn’t think it was funny as much as I did.

We spent the whole week in the hot sun. I spent most of my days in the hotel's pool. Just a few steps away from the pool was the ocean, so I had enough water to keep me company.
Sometimes the oceans waves were pretty big. I had fun letting the waves carry me to shore on my inflatable bed.

On one of the days my mom spotted a starfish on the shore, being pulled in and out by the waves, it was hard to catch, but when she finally did, she was exited to show me. All of a sudden she screamed, and threw it in the air, and shouted “it has a mouth”. She was so shocked that a starfish was a real living sea creature and not just a star looking sea shell. I was funny to see her scared of such a small thing. At the end she said she didn’t even want to know where the eyes were on that thing.

There were two excursions that we went on during our stay in Aruba. One was a snorkelling trip, and one was a trip to a giant water park. My favourite was the snorkelling trip because I got to see the most amazing looking fishes I have ever seen in my entire life. And when I was under the water looking around, I actually found Nemo!

Another highlight of my trip in Aruba was the all you can eat buffet! A dream come true for a growing boy like myself. My grandmother was so happy that she didn’t have to cook for a whole week!

I was sad when my vacation came to an end, and we were heading back home. We were leaving just after they had finished putting up all the Christmas decorations and trees. It was the first time I have ever seen a Christmas tree and no snow. I wondered what it would be like to spend Christmas on an island.

Well…….maybe that will be my next vacation!
