“Um what is that kind of reptile is that over there?”
“Oh that is called a leopard gecko.”
Good morning class and teachers, as you already know what my speech topic is about, let me tell a little about them. They are very low maintenance in comparison to other reptiles commonly kept as pets. The minimum tank size for them would be a 10 gallon tank. Leopard Gecko’s are solitary animals and only come together and mate in the wild, so individual is the best for them. In order for them to properly digest their food, Leopard Gecko’s need a warm spot of 88-94F. Some things you shouldn’t buy for them are hot rocks and wood chips. The reason why you shouldn’t buy hot rocks is because it can burn their stomachs. Also you shouldn’t buy wood chips is because they can be lodged in their bladders and intestines. The water bowl should be cleaned daily.
Now you know a little about what you should and shouldn’t get for a leopard gecko, let’s change the topic to how many eggs a female gecko has a year. In the first year a female will have 6 eggs, in the second year she can have up to 20 eggs a year, in the third year 12 eggs, the fourth year 16, the fifth year 25 eggs and so on and so on.
Did you know that a Leopard Gecko can live up to 13 years or even more? Leopard Geckos can also come in different colors like high yellow which is a bright color, lavender which is a purplish color, jungle which is any color, blazing blizzard which is a gray color and tangerine which is an orange color, but normal leopard geckos are tanned with black dots on them.
