Who is the Golden Globe award winning Canadian American actor and comedian? Who wore tap shoes to bed just to cheer up his parents? My name is Ace Ventura Pet detective.

Good afternoon judges, principal, teachers and fellow students. I did my speech on a famous Canadian named Jim Carrey.

Jim Carrey was born in Newmarket, Ontario, on January 17, 1962. His birth name is James Eugene Carrey. He was the fourth child to be born to Percy and Kathleen Carrey. His three older siblings are John, Patricia, and Rita. His family was Catholic and French Canadian.

As a child Jim was always trying to make people laugh. At age 10 he even tried to get on to a big famous television show by sending them a letter telling them what he did. As a young student in junior high the principal let him do the afternoon announcements so he could do his act for the rest of the students.

Jim Carrey and his family had a rough time when he became a teenager. The family was forced to move from Newmarket to Scarborough. His whole family had to get jobs as janitors. Jim was working 8 hours shifts after school trying to earn money for the family. Shortly after Jim and his family had to move again because they did not have enough money and they were living in a camper van because they could not afford to move into another house. As he got a little older and his family got back into their house, Jim decided to get a job at a comedy club. He dropped out of high school and started working on celebrity impressions along with his comedy act.

He always said that one day he would be rich and famous. He made a bet with his father and wrote a cheque for a million dollars and told his dad to hold on to it because one day he would be able to cash it. Then just before he made all of his money his dad past away and Jim put the cheque in with his father to be buried with him. Shortly after his dad passed away he became rich and famous, and his father would have been able to cash that cheque.

In 1979, Jim decided to move to Los Angels. He got a job at a local comedy club and met a famous comedian named Rodney Dangerfield. Rodney Dangerfield gave Jim a really good job. While he was working at the comedy club, he met and married waitress Melissa Womer. They had a daughter together and named her Jane Erin Carrey. Their daughter Jane is 15 years old now. The couple would later get divorced. Jim Carrey would get married one more time to Lauren Holly. The marriage did not last long. Jim started his acting career in 1985 with a movie called “Once Bitten”. Since then he has done 27 movies, including ones like “Dumb and Dumber”, “Batman”, and Lemony Snicket’s “The series of unfortunate events”. He already has 6 more movies to come out before 2010.

Jim Carrey has earned over $3 billion dollars in his career. Jim has a chipped tooth in real life like in the movie Dumb and Dumber. He is also a vegetarian. Jim’s favourite television shows are Sponge Bob Square Pants and Dave the Barbarian.

Since 1994 Jim has been nominated and won a lot of awards. He has won 6 Golden Globe awards, 22 MTV awards and 2 People’s Choice Awards. Jim Carrey was inducted into Canada’s walk of fame in 1998. Jim Carrey is without a doubt the most powerful and influential Canadian born actor working in Hollywood.
