Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be an actor or actress? Good morning teachers and fellow students. I am doing my speech on Jennifer Aniston and the ups and downs that she went through to become an actress.
Jennifer Aniston was born in Los Angeles in a little suburb called Sherman Oaks February 11, 1969. Her father was an actor and his name was John Aniston, her mother was also an actress named Nancy. Jennifer’s parents were married in 1965. The family moved to New York in 1974 after her father got a part in the daytime soap opera called “Love of Life”. This would be Jennifer’s home for the rest of her childhood. Her parents eventually divorced in August 1980 and she continued to live with her mother in New York while her father moved back to California.
Jennifer had gone to the Fame School of Performing Arts. Her mother was fine with Jennifer becoming an actress but her father wanted her to pursue anything other than acting. This school consisted of half a day of acting and the other half of the day of normal school. Jennifer knew that acting was what she wanted to do. Fame School was a golden time for Jennifer. When she graduated in the summer of 1987, her closing message in her yearbook was, “It’s been a real experience! My friends will live in my heart forever.”
Jennifer enrolled in some drama classes two nights a week after high school in a place called Musical Works Theatre. She also enrolled in some psychology classes and to make money she worked as a waitress at a place called Jackson Hole, a well known burger joint in Manhattan. She will go on auditions in between waitressing and would only get little parts like commercials or local theatre plays.
By time she was 20 years old and still living with her mother. Jennifer had talked to her friends and realized that if she wanted to make it as an actress she needed to move back to Los Angels. She moved in with her father and her stepmother and was looking for a break in Hollywood. Her father was, by the time, on a soap opera called “Days of our Lives.”
Jennifer’s routine for the next 5 years would be auditing for a pilot, making a pilot, then waiting and hoping that the show would be picked up for a season and lead to fame and fortune. Jennifer’s first role was a movie made for television called “Camp Cucamonga.” It was a small role but a success. July 25th, 1990 she appeared in a sitcom called “Molloy”, only seven episodes were made, then it was canceled. Her second sitcom was canceled after only 13 episodes. Jennifer went on to act in other small low budget movies.
Then, in 1994 she was given an opportunity to audition in a new sitcom with a name kept changing. She was not the first choice to play Rachel Green. David Schwimmer was the first to be cast, then, Lisa Kudrow, Courtney Cox, Mathew Perry, Jennifer Aniston and the last to be cast was Matt Leblanc. This is how the show” Friends” started. By the end of the debut May 18, 1995, the show was in the top ten. The show continued on for the next ten years with great success and many awards. The cast became friends the minute they started the show but some of the cast would go through problems in their personal lives but were always there for each other.
During the 10 years of “Friends”, Jennifer met and married Brad Pitt. They were married for five years. In Hollywood, they were considered to be the golden couple. But after five years of marriage they got divorced on January 7, 2005. Jennifer ended up on covers of magazines regarding her personal life, and what caused her marriage to break up. To this day, Jennifer still appears on covers of magazines about her personal life.
I hope now that you have a better understanding of just how much work is put into becoming an actor or actress.
