When you think about the Oscars, you think of the The Curious Case of Benjamin Button or the Wrestler, or Slum Dog Millionaire. I don't know about you ... but I'm not allowed to watch any of those movies. Greetings to teachers, judges, fellow students and fellow movie goers. Today I am here to speak to you about a movie that, with our "parents guidance", we at least have been able to see, and will be my Academy Award winner ... "Catch that Kid."
If you haven't seen it, it's not about going out and capturing some kid. It's not about some guy aging in the opposite direction or about Batman overcoming the evil joker. It's about hanging out with your friends, and planning a bank robbery to pay for a surgery so your Dad can walk again. Okay! I wouldn't suggest we go out and rob a bank. But what "Catch that Kid" really wants us to think about is how we sometimes need to do whatever we can to help when our family or friends need us.
The story of Catch That Kid is about two boys and a girl that are friends. These three friends at Kristen Stewart as Maddie, you know her from Twilight the movie as Bella, Corbin Bleu as Austin you know him from High School Musical, 2 and 3 and as Chad on Jump In as Izzy. You also see Max Thriot as Gus and you know him from Nancy Drew the movie. Now if you did not know Gus and Austin like Maddie and Maddie loves to climb because her Father is a mountain climber. Maddie’s father fell from Everest while free climbing and as a result became paralyzed from the waist down. Now he has to have a surgery that costs 250,000.00 dollars. They don't have the money! Now how are they going to get the money? Maddie is plotting to rob a high tech bank that the security system was designed by her Mother. Now she gets Austin and Gus to help her. But soon she ends up in a fight with Gus and Austin which leads her to rob the bank alone! But now she lies to them telling them she loves them both which they end up helping in the robbery again. Now for Maddie, Gus, and Austin have to dodge all the security stuff in the bank. Now to get the money Maddie needs to climb up to a safe that is suspended 100 feet off the ground. Soon her gear breaks and she does something just like her father did on Everest. I don't want to tell you any more about the movie but what I can tell you is that things all work out between Maddie, her friends, and her family. In the end Maddie can rely on her friends and Maddie’s family can rely on her. Don't forget it is not about capturing some kid or ageing backwards, or some washed up wrestler, or even Batman saving the world. It's about doing whatever we can to help our family and friends when they need us. Now if I was choosing the Oscars a movie like Catch that Kid is a movie that would win for best picture. So go out and see Catch That Kid.
