To encourage the sharing spirit at ourspeeches.com, an online public speaking resource website dedicated to help students prepare for their annual public speaking contest, Our Speeches is hosting the 2009 Sharing Spirit Contest and Surprise Raffle Draw at St. Michael School again this year. Contest opens on Monday, February 9, 2009 and the contest deadline is on Tuesday, March 31, 2009. The Raffle Draw will be held on Thursday April 16, 2009.
Who is eligible?
For the Surprise Raffle Draw: All students who are currently in a school which belongs to Halton region including Oakville, Burlington, Milton, and Halton Hills. (For those who are in other regions, please contact mwang@ourspeeches.com for information..)
For the Contest: Grade 4-8 class at St. Michael School that has the most participation in the website will win the Pizza Party.
To enter you may:
1) Publish your own speeches on www.ourspeeches.com. For each published speech, you will get one entry ballot.
2) Refer a friend/ relative. If the friend/relative you referred publishes at least one speech, you will also get one entry ballot.
Parents/Guardians’ signed permission forms are required for all students under 18 years old except those who already had an account with us or already sent in the signed permission form before.

Instructions to participate:
1) For those who want to participate online:
If you already have an account with us, just
login to " My Account"
Then click on "Upload" on the top menu.
Enter the information and type or paste your speech. Then click Submit.
Don’t have an account yet,
Go to www.ourspeeches.com, click on the sign-up link on the top right corner.
Enter your information, click on "submit".
Go to your e-mail inbox and find the e-mail sent from ourspeeches.com, click on the link.
Go back to www.ourspeeches.com, click on the "My Account" in the main menu.
Enter username and password you just created to login.
Then click on "Upload" on the top menu.
Enter the information and type or paste your speech. Then click Submit.
Ask your Parent/Guardian to check his/her e-mail inbox, there s/he will find an e-mail from ourspeeches.com. S/he can submit his/her permission online or you can have them sign the permission form you brought home and return it to the office.
2) For those who want to hand in written copies:
Make a copy of your or your friends/relatives’ written speech(es) and write the following information:
Full Name, School Name, City,
Year (When you delivered the speech.),
Grade (Which grade you were in when you delivered the speech.)
Winner Status ( “Class”- top 2 in your class; “School”- Represented St. Michael or other school you were in at the Finals; “Board”- Recognized by Halton Catholic District School Board or other School Boards. )
Return the signed Parent/Guardian permission form(s) with the speech(es) to St. Michael School office or put the submission in the mail.
